Looking for a parking space can be a hassle, especially during peak hours.
When you go to crowded establishments, expect parking areas to be mostly full. You go ’round and ’round the entire space to look for a vacant spot. Plus, even if you see one, it’d be like a race on who gets it first.
One thing’s for sure: there is one parking space that’d usually be vacant. This one.
It’s too tempting, isn’t it? If not for respect, courtesy, and empathy, any a-hole would not think twice in parking there. Otherwise, you wait endlessly for wherever you can park.
Of course, we can never judge them directly.
It’s a rule that vehicles carrying persons with disabilities should have the disabled badge (aka blue badge) on their cars. This will give other vehicles the idea that you are allowed to park in the designated blue badge space.
Emma Doherty had her blue badge on her car.
Hence, when she stopped by Alder Hey Children’s Hospital to take her son in, she parked where she should.
However, someone still called her out for it and left a note.
“You lazy conning b**ch. You did not have a disabled person with you! These spaces are reserved for people who need them!!!”
Wow. That’s a lot of anger in it!
Emma took it to Facebook to educate whoever left this on her car.
She posted the note and an explanation on Facebook (even if she didn’t need to), hoping that it would get shared a lot and reach the person who wrote it. The post was shared more than 31,000 times and had more than 30,000 reactions. Around 12,000 of which gave it an ‘Angry’ reaction.
The person did not understand that the blue badge was for her son, Bobby.
In her post, she said that Bobby was terminally ill and underwent over 15 operations. This includes three open-heart surgeries, two stomach surgeries, lung, diaphragm, and countless artery-stenting procedures.
Other than the surgeries, Bobby had gone through multiple life-threatening emergencies.
He had two strokes and was paralyzed during both occasions, had his brain damaged, and had a spine, hip, and heart condition. With everything that Bobby went through, we could tell that it warranted Emma’s blue badge on her car.
She took the chance to tell people that not all disabilities are visible.
While the most common disabilities we know often require crutches or wheelchairs, she explained that Bobby did not need them. She also explained that she was in a hurry, so she decided to carry him instead. Even so, her argument stands true.
Emma couldn’t help but break down when she read that note.
In her post, she said how the security and other staff at Alder Hey saw her break down. She felt it was inconsiderate, rude, and harsh judgment, not knowing that she was a single mother who tried to keep it together for her son.
