On July 6 a year ago, Samantha Russell died following a car crash that began when a 37-year-old man attempted to flee police and lead them on a chase through Wichita, Kansas.
The 22-year-old soon-to-be mother was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries.
Thankfully, her unborn child survived.
The child’s father and Samantha’s husband, Brandon, shared an emotional message on Facebook memorializing his wife and celebrating the birth of the couple’s son.
“Words cannot explain or express the emotions going through everyones head today in light of the events that took place on July 6th 2021 at around 5:30CST. Sammy was taken from us but left behind the most beautiful gift of life,” he wrote.
“She was driven and the hardest worker I knew. She always ALWAYS knew what to say when I was going through an issue or needed advice.”
“She was an all around good person who did not deserve to die on impact from a reckless driver,” Brandon wrote.
He also urged everyone to take the time to tell those who are important to you how much they mean to you because tomorrow is never promised.
The robbery suspect, who caused the crash which killed Samantha, has been arrested. Javan Jermaine Ervin has been charged with first-degree murder in commission of a felony, aggravated battery and criminal possession of a firearm.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help Brandon.
It is a miracle this little baby boy survived. I know he will be loved by so many people, but it breaks my heart that his mother won’t be physically there.
