A Mexican couple has gone viral after posting a TikTok video in which they shared their first encounter that happened almost thirteen years ago.
The wife Luz Yesenia Geronimo Cerna, who goes by the username @makeup_by_lakiza on TikTok, posted a video on her account that went viral with more than 5 million views.
According to her video, Luz, who belongs to Nuevo San Juan, Michoacán, Mexico, first saw Juan Mendoza Alvizar in 2009 when she saw him washing cars outside an Oxxo shop.
She shared that Juan was living rough then, and he used to wash people’s cars and other vehicles to earn his living.
She said she spoke to Juan and asked him if she could give him a fresh cut and a little grooming. He agreed, and Luz took him inside her house and gave him a fresh cut and a bit of a makeover.
The video showed Juan’s before and after pictures, and people could see a considerable change in his personality after the cleanup.
Then the following clip showed them together, and fast forward to ten years; they were married with three kids.
While talking to NTK, Luz explained that when she gave him a haircut, she really liked Juan and called it ‘love at first sight.’ She also said that she was impressed by how he treated people despite living in such poor conditions.
“It was love at first sight.” She told the outlet.
“The first thing I saw was his way of treating people.”
“[After cutting his hair] I was a bit surprised – it looked super good,” she said.
“Our relationship was good from the beginning and was what I was looking for.
“And with his super good family, they tell me that they love me like their daughter, and that’s how they treat me.”
The couple tied the knot in 2011 and are happily married with three children, 12-year-old Larissa, 9-year-old Kimberly, and 3-year-old Zazil.
She also shared that her husband has left the streets and now works as a bricklayer and fixes mobile phones.
Her viral video was viewed by millions of viewers and received nearly 358K likes and 7500 comments.
The video’s caption said, “There is no doubt that he who seeks finds, I found the other half that I needed with him.”
Her video received so much love and appreciation, and people said Juan was lucky to be found by Luz.
