Austin Majors was a child star who gained his major recognition for his role on the show, NYPD Blue. According to reports from TMZ, Majors died on Saturday night.
His family issues a statement after his passing, remembering young Austin as a “loving, artistic, brilliant, and kind human being.”
“Austin took great joy and pride in his acting career. He was an active Eagle Scout and graduated Salutatorian in high school,” the statement read. “He went on to graduate from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts with a passion of directing and music producing,” the statement read.
“Austin’s younger sister, Kali, says her fondest memories with Austin were growing up on set with him, volunteering at events with ‘Kids With a Cause,’ and backpacking together,” the statement continued. “Austin was the kind of son, brother, grandson, and nephew that made us proud and we will miss him deeply forever.”
He appeared in many television shows including having roles on shows such as ER, According to Jim and Desperate Housewives. His last television credit seems to be in 2009 when he appeared on How I Met Your Mother.
His biggest acting credit and role was by far his role as Theo Sipowicz on NYPD Blue. He played the role of Andy Sipowicz’s son, played by actor Dennis Franz. He played the role for seven seasons and even won a Young Artists Award for his portrayal of Theo in 2002.
