As a child, the annual class photo is a very special day; it’s so exciting when you get to choose your own clothes. But for some kids, it can be a nerve-racking experience as they worry what people will think of their regular clothes and some kids are uncomfortable posing in front of the camera.

When three-year-old girl Kaylieann Steinbach went to bed the night before her class picture, she was excited about what was going to happen. But the happy expectation quickly turned into disappointment when she saw the clothes her parents had put out for her.

Then she decided to pick her own outfit.

Kayliean loves superheroes, especially Superman and Supergirl but due to profound hearing loss she cannot hear the letter “S”, so in her world, they are called “Pooterman” and “Pootergirl”.

Obviously, there was no doubt about which clothes she really wanted to wear to class on picture day.

“Pootergirl!”, she told her parents as they started presenting her with different outfits.

Dad Austin Steinbach told the Huffington Post” “Well, I couldn’t argue with that answer.”

Kaylieann got what she wanted and wore her heroic outfit. She radiated with joy in front of the cameras with her supergirl outfit on and accompanying doll.

Austin says that she wears other costumes to school and staff and her classmates always look forward to seeing which superhero outfit she’s going to wear that day.

Austin posted Kaylieann’s class photo on Reddit and couldn’t believe the response. He was flooded with supportive messages.

“The reaction and turnout from the deaf community is amazing,” he said. “I still haven’t been able to get through all the messages of support and kind words people have sent me. I could never have imagined how much her picture could have touched so many,” Austin Steinbach told the  Huffington Post.

What a tough and brave girl you are, Kaylieann! In my eyes, you’re the real superhero!
