That smile on the little boy’s face is everything!

“Our children should be properly introduced to the world in which they live.” ~ Thomas Berry

We love our children so much that, if we could, we would give them the world.

However, as we mature, we understand that, even if we could, it’s better to teach our children to be grateful.

Life can be challenging, and sometimes, we face situations where we could not afford some things or where we should put our necessities first.

In these trying times, a child who knows the value of money and how to earn extra for what they want, or need, is also helpful.

Selling pre-loved stuff, and selling cookies or lemonade are just some of the most common ways for our kids to earn a little extra.

They aren’t really selling for money, rather, it’s all play and learning for our kids.

At the same time, they learn how to value their hard-earned money and they get to buy what they want with the money they earn.

Most of us had the chance to experience this when we were kids.

Do you still remember the excitement that you felt when you were preparing for your small ‘store’ in your garden or when you helped mom to mix the lemonade, and most of all, the happiness you felt when someone bought your cold refreshing lemonade?ADVERTISEMENT

Did you save your earnings or did you buy a toy with the money?

An adorable act of kindness by Officer Joel Perez of the Ansonia Police Department went viral last September 3, 2022.

According to the Facebook post by Wendelyn Narvaez, her grandson, who is in grade school, started a lemonade stand. Aside from the thirst-quenching drink, he also offered cookies and brownies.

As the little boy was selling his refreshing drink, a police officer approached him.

Landen, Narvaez’s grandson, was confused as the officer introduced himself.

Then, he asked the boy why he was selling lemonade.

Little Landen replied he was saving money so he could buy brand new blue sneakers for school.

Officer Perez asked for the boy’s size and then left.

After a few hours, Landen was still selling lemonade. Then he noticed someone familiar.

It was Officer Perez, coming towards his lemonade stand again, and in his hands, was a box.

The kind-hearted police officer handed Landen new, store-bought, blue sneakers.

Just then, Landen’s grandmother took the viral photo.

“Landen was surprised and couldn’t believe it,” Narvaez wrote on her Facebook account.

The police officer, who was sweet enough to buy Landen a new pair of shoes was a former military police officer. The Ansonia Police Department then hired him last March.

“I am honored to work for such great community. Giving back is not only a blessing but a daily reminder of where I came from. Landen, I hope you enjoy your new sneakers and never forget how great of a kid you are. May God bless you and continue protecting you and your family!” said Officer Perez as he shared their viral photo.
