Richard Gere was vacationing in Mexico with his family; his wife Alejandra Silva and their two children. They went on vacation for Alejandra’s 40th birthday.
According to reports, the actor caught the flu while he was on vacation with his family. A representative for the actor confirmed this to NBC News but refused to elaborate any further.
The news outlet then revealed that the American Gigolo actor already had a cough but that it had worsened in Mexico. The aggravated coughing led him to go to a hospital where he was diagnosed with pneumonia. The actor stayed in the hospital overnight in order to be monitored but was released the following day.
After seeing the endless support and concern from fans, the actor’s 40-year-old wife took to her social media to put an end to all the speculation and concern. She posted a picture that shows her and Gere holding hands with their son and walking with him, she captioned it, “I woke up this morning and I saw the news and all your kind and [worried] messages,” she captioned the post. “He is recovering he is feeling much better today!”
She further added, “The worst has already [passed]!” Silva continued. “Thank you all for [you’re] sweet messages we really appreciate them! ♥️♥️ #thankyou.”
Silva’s previous posts on social media gave also revealed that the entire family was going through some kind of sickness. A post she made accompanied by a picture of her walking towards the sea with her two children was captioned, “Thank you all for the birthday wishes.. after almost 3 weeks of everyone being sick in our family, today finally I feel much better! Thank you for all the love I give it all back to you! ��� #happybirthday #happy40.”
