Toby Keith is hoping to get on the road again!

The country star told Fox News he was “feeling good” amid his battle with stomach cancer.

In a June 2022 post on social media, Keith, 61, revealed he had been battling the disease for the past six months.

“I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation, and surgery,” he wrote in a tweet. “So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax.”

“I am looking forward to spending time with my family,” Keith added. “But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait.”

Since his announcement he has been on hiatus from performing, but his representatives told Fox that he’s ready to hit the stage “soon.”

“All of this is good news.”

Keith told The Oklahoman he was feeling optimistic about his future, despite the unpredictability of cancer.

“Basically, everything is in a real positive trend,” he said. “You never know with cancer, so you have to prepare.”

Even after going through months of chemotherapy, Keith believes he’s ready to endure a tour. But first, he’s got to test the waters.

“I’ve got more wind and I’m thinking about bringing the band in and setting up, playing two or three days somewhere just to see if I can get through two hours,” he said. “All I gotta do is see if I can get through two or three nights of work and get a little break in this chemo, and we’ll go back to work. I’m ready. That’s living.”

“I need a little bit of time to rest up, heal up… it’s pretty debilitating to have to go through all that. But as long as everything stays hunky dory then we’ll look at something good in the future.”

It’d be awesome if Toby Keith was able to play a show or two! I think all of his fans would be so appreciative.
