The entire first season of Squid Game was cheaper to make than MrBeast’s recently released Prime Video reality television series.

As the second season of Squid Game brings about a new chapter in the life of the series, one cannot help but look back at the impact of the first season. The series broke records with its quality, being a fresh premise that was almost meta in the most interesting ways possible.
The juxtaposition between the dark themes of the series and the bright color scheme almost became nightmarish but iconic. So much so, that the visual themes of the series became very popular, and people all across the world were recreating it. However, there was one person who took things to the next level in the most bizarre ways possible.
MrBeast recreated the entire Squid Game set for a YouTube video
The first season of Squid Game was released in September of 2021, and it caused cultural waves. Fans from all across the world were watching the series, hooked on its unique premise and stylistic approach. The relevance of the series was so great that two months after its first season premiered, MrBeast released a video with the same premise.
He picked 456 contestants, who wore the same jumpsuits and went through the same tasks that were shown in the series. The only difference was this was taking the approach of a reality television series, and there were no casualties or spilling of blood in the YouTube video.

The video easily became one of his most successful films to date, with it gathering way over half a billion views and skyrocketing the success of his channel. Although the video cost him $3.5 million, according to The Looper, he would have certainly gotten his fair share back from how well it performed.
However, things have now drastically changed for the channel in one very impressive way.
MrBeast only spent a lot more on his series than Squid Game
The first season of Squid Game and MrBeast’s video which was inspired by the series have both drastically changed the trajectory of the two programs. The Netflix series has become one of the most successful shows in its history, and fans have been patiently waiting for its next season since it was first announced. Now that it has come, they are nothing if not impressed at how well it can be consistent in its quality.
On the other hand, MrBeast has become the most successful YouTuber in the world, breaking records with his videos and his views. Recent events have even allowed him to branch his content out of YouTube, having recently gotten his very own reality television series.

Jimmy Donaldson has recently released MrBeast Games on Prime Video, which follows a similar format to his videos, only on a much grander scale. The production of the series is much higher in cost, and so is the price. So much so, that a channel that was once in the shadow of the Netflix series now has a much greater budget than it.
According to LATimes, the first season of the Netflix series cost a total of $21.4 million to produce, with each episode getting around $2.4 million. Donaldson’s series has taken things to much bigger leagues, as he revealed in an Instagram reel that the budget of his reality TV series is $100 million.
