Rumer Willis became a new mother this year, but a recent photo she posted has proven that her motherhood journey is far from easy…
The mother-of-one – who is the daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis – recently celebrated her 35th birthday with a powerful Instagram post.
In the photo, she is seen breastfeeding her daughter, Louetta, as part of her birthday celebration. She used this moment to reflect on her first year as a mother and express her feelings about the beauty of motherhood.
In her caption, Rumer shared that she has never felt more beautiful than she does now as a mother. While she often shares glimpses of her life on social media, this particular photo sparked a discussion when a fan questioned her decision to share it. Rumer responded with an empowering message that celebrates the strength and beauty of motherhood.
Rumer said she was in her “Hot Mom” phase and wrote a heartfelt letter that resonated with mothers and people beyond the realm of motherhood.
In her Instagram post, Rumer explained how thankful she was for her body’s amazing ability to create a human being, even though it may look and feel different now.
The actress acknowledged that her body is still adjusting after giving birth, but regardless of its current shape, she said she was grateful for everything it has given her, even saying: “My breasts might be bigger and perhaps ever so drifting downward, but what a gift and privilege that they can feed and provide nourishment for my Lou. They also make a fantastic pillow while we co-sleep.”
On her 35th birthday, Rumer shared a photo of herself, describing it as being “Ridiculously sunburnt and feeding my Lou.” She revealed that it was on her previous birthday that she discovered she was pregnant.
Rumer explained that becoming a mother has strangely brought her a sense of comfort and confidence when it comes to her own body. As she enters her 35th year, embracing both her womanhood and motherhood, she remarked that her primary goal is to find the strength and confidence to release anything that no longer benefits her or her daughter.
In response to a follower’s simple question: “Why?” Rumer provided a brief yet straightforward response, saying: “Because I want to.”
The image sparked a debate in the comments section of Rumer’s post, with some individuals arguing that her nude body should remain private.
“We have all done this. But not on social media,” one person wrote. “I value my child’s bonding rather than my vanity. It’s an important act. Pay attention.”
Another added: “I don’t know what you’re talking about. You put it out there so you know you were going to get opinions. I love your father but I don’t like this. That’s my opinion.”
However, other users praised Rumer for showing something so normal and natural. “Thank you for such a beautiful post…I’m glad all the negative naysayers aren’t getting in your way…imagine if people only responded with positivity and niceness….our world would be such a beautiful place and everyone could be proud of being human,” someone wrote.
In response Rumer said that she believed in the importance of sharing breastfeeding photos, stating: “There is an incredible amount of shame that comes with being born into a female body, and I want to lead by example. Teaching my daughter that she doesn’t have to be ashamed of her body ever, and she decides how she wants to share it.”
