It’s been a wild few weeks for Steve Harvey since the online rumor mill first began to suggest that his wife, Marjorie, had been unfaithful.
Shocking speculation in late August claimed that Marjorie Harvey had cheated on her famous husband with the couple’s bodyguard and chef, with reports adding that she was then seeking a divorce settlement to the tune of $200 million.
Just where the cheating allegations had their roots is anyone’s guess – no evidence was presented to back up the claims, and no official party went on record to verify them – but Harvey and his wife moved quickly to shut them down as being false.
Speaking at Invest Fest in Atlanta, days after the rumors began to swirl, Harvey said: “I’m fine. Marjorie fine. I don’t know what y’all are doing, but find something else to do, ‘cause we fine. Lord, have mercy.”
The TV show host added: “Sometimes … you wanna respond, but I ain’t got no time for rumor and gossip,” he added. “God been good to me. I’m still shining.”
Marjorie, married to Steve since 2007, turned to the internet to put the record straight, writing on Instagram: “My husband and I don’t usually stop to address all the foolishness and lies that have been spread about us.
“However to whom much is given much is required. I understand that with my platform comes some sort of responsibility to those that may not be as strong as we are.”
Yet despite the denials and the Harveys’ united stance that no infidelity has taken place, it would appear that there remain people out there who are yet to be convinced.
This is likely why Steve moved to again – more forcefully this time – slam the harmful rumors as nothing more than wanton gossip, stating definitively: “You’re not going to split us up!”
On an episode of The Steve Harvey Morning Show earlier this week, the 66-year-old said: “This woman got in the hole and built this with me. She didn’t steal anything! And I’m tired of you all talking about my girl because my girl is one of the best women I’ve ever met.
“We are a tighter two-handed circle. Thanks for doing that. You’re not going to split us up! We’re not going nowhere and she is none of what you said she is. She’s the best chick I know. Now I’m defending her, and you can feel how you want to feel about that.”
Steve’s recent comments came after a leaked conversation his co-host Shirley Strawberry had about the couple, wherein she said that Harvey was “scared” of Marjorie.
Strawberry was later forced to issue an apology to the Harveys in a social media video.
“It was not me trying to add to what you and Marjorie already have going on in your lives right now. But the fact that these tapes were released, it does seem that everyone is coming for you, including me,” she explained.
“But in reality, the tapes have nothing to do with what you and Marjorie have going on. It was just me running my mouth in what I thought was a private conversation. I apologize. I feel terrible.”
