Sandra Bullock’s partner Bryan Randall passed away at the age of 57 years old on August 5th after a private battle with ALS. The couple had always stayed out of the public eye throughout their courtship, and hence the news of the death came as a shock to fans who had no idea Randall had been sick.
The couple first met when Bullock hired Randall, the model-turned-photographer, to photograph her son Louis’ 5th birthday party. The pair reportedly felt sparks immediately and began dating quietly soon after.
The first time the couple stepped out together was when they attended the secret wedding of Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux. A source later revealed that Bullock and Randall were “very affectionate” with one another throughout the ceremony.
Later the couple was seen going out to dinner at Craig’s Restaurant in West Hollywood. They were photographed having a wonderful time with one another.
It was reported that the couple even exchanged vows in the Bahamas with one another in a private ceremony. The ceremony was not legally binding. According to the Daily Mail, the actress referred to Randall as “the love of my life.” The actress was seen in a kaftan and had her hair braided. A source said the ceremony was held “for the children, to kind of seal the deal and show them this was a forever thing.” According to the Daily Mail, the actress’ two children referred to Bryan Randall as a dad.
Later in 2018, she finally opened up about her boyfriend in an interview. She shared that her kids loved him completely. The actress said, “He’s super kind,” she further told the magazine. “For the kids, he’s sort of No. 1. and I’m No. 2. But I get it because he’s more fun and has better treats.”
In June of the same year, the couple appeared together at Bullock’s premiere for Ocean’s 8. While Randall did not walk the red carpet, he was seen helping Bullock out of her vehicle and she continued to hold on to him at the event.
In 2021, she appeared on Red Table Talk to talk about the prospect of marriage. She shared how she was in no hurry to get married because of her last experience with marriage due to her high-profile divorce from Jesse James.
The actress said, “I am someone who went through the divorce process.” She added, “I found the love of my life. We share two beautiful children, three children — his older daughter. Best thing ever. So, I don’t want to say do it like I do it but I don’t need a paper to be a devoted partner, a devoted mother. I don’t need to be told to be ever-present in the hardest of times. I don’t need to be told to weather a storm with a good man.”
In August 2023, the heartbreaking news of his demise was made public. The family announced, “It is with great sadness that we share that on Aug. 5, Bryan Randall passed away peacefully after a three-year battle with ALS,” his family told ET. “Bryan chose early to keep his journey with ALS private and those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request.”
“We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours,” his family added.
“At this time we ask for privacy to grieve and to come to terms with the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan,” the statement concluded, signed, “His Loving Family.”
The death of Bryan Randall is just heartbreaking. We are sending the family our thoughts and prayers as they navigate their way through this tough time.
