This animal is not for everyone, but if you already get a ferret, you will become attached to it with all your heart, despite some uncomfortable features of the animal. Ferrets are very charming and sweet – even their appearance invites you to touch and stroke already in the first second of acquaintance.

And the nature of the animals fully corresponds to their appearance: contact, inquisitive, ubiquitous, sociable and sooo funny!

Ferrets have been living with humans for a long time, it is believed that for more than 2000 years, even those ferrets that are now sold in nurseries and live in our homes are not wild, but belong to an independent species of domestic ferrets. Why man domesticated them is not exactly known. There is information that ferrets helped in hunting, penetrating into the holes of animals and driving them out of there.

Let’s take a closer look at the features of this charming animal.

Ferrets belong to the weasel family. Their closest relatives are minks, weasels, and martens.

All domestic ferrets are born with a light coat color and quite tiny in size. A newborn ferret fits easily in a teaspoon. Toddlers are called puppies, they are also united with dogs by common veterinary approaches. They say about ferrets like this: we feed it like a cat – we treat it like a dog!

Get ready for the fact that this baby will be everywhere: in the bedside table, in the closet, on the table, in the bathroom, in the toilet, in the cosmetic bag, in the refrigerator. And the ferret visits all these places not out of idle curiosity, but with a very practical purpose, even a mission: to steal and hide as many objects as possible.

But there is good news: ferrets do not gnaw on furniture, but wallpaper can get if the animal begins to realize its natural need to dig and dig on the walls.

Ferrets generally do not make loud sounds, only a quiet, pleasant clicking sound. With a small size (about 60 cm) and low weight (up to 2 kg) – a very good pet option for a small city apartment.

Ferrets have no fear of a person at all, and in general they are not afraid of much.

Ferrets love to swim.

They have very poor eyesight, but it is compensated by a keen sense of smell and hearing.

Ferrets cannot be imported into Australia, and their home keeping is also prohibited in New York and the State of California, because, if they accidentally find themselves in the wild, they form colonies and cause significant damage to the local fauna.

A specific smell is the biggest drawback of these cute animals. It really exists and nothing can be done about it.
