You have to do your best to show this child that there are people who are willing to care for them and love them.
Then, the time will come to let them go. It’s never easy, but it’s a very admirable act of love and kindness.Sara Cozad and Stuart Shank fostered Dayshawn and his little brother Michael.After a few years of being a family, the couple realized that it was a failed foster. They can no longer allow these two beautiful kids to be taken away from them.
They decided to adopt Dayshawn, then 13, and his little brother, Michael, who was six at that time.
CBS News featured a short clip featuring Sara, Stuart, and the kids.
In the said video, the judge was finalizing the adoption process of Dayshawn and little Michael.
The viral photo started as the judge asked the teenage boy if the adoption should proceed. He smiled and said yes.
He even bragged that all of the people in his foster family loved him and his brother.
The judge was touched by his words and said that it was great.
Dayshawn continued and explained that he loved Sara and Stuart, and he was really glad to have his foster family.
The judge, was of course, very happy to see the boy’s joy.
She then asked the second question to Dayshawn and Michael if they were ready to commit to the adoption process.
Everyone, especially Sara, was touched by Dayshawn’s answer.
“Yeah, I’m glad to be their son. They’re just really the best thing I’ve ever had. If I can wish anything in the world, I’d wish that I could just love these people for the rest of my life.”
Sara burst into tears upon hearing the sweet speech from her loving son.
Any parent would feel the same. Dayshawn’s words were sweet, sincere, and full of love and appreciation. It just shows how much love this family has for their kids. Without a doubt, Dayshawn and Michael are home.
The judge smiled and told everyone that if she had any doubts before, they were gone by the time she heard Dayshawn’s speech.
Finally, the judge handed the gavel to Dayshawn and told him he was the first to approve the adoption.
This teen had an awesome sense of humor, he paused as if he was hesitant at first, then he said, “I’d officially say yes!”
Everyone clapped, and then it was Michael’s turn to approve. That day ended with a small celebration and lots of memories.
Kids are full of love to share. They just need a loving home for them to feel secured and loved. This is exactly what happened to these two wonderful boys.
