Since we got married, I haven’t allowed myself to say an extra word, I haven’t allowed myself to interfere in their arguments, etc.

But recently something happened that I couldn’t just stand by.
My husband’s paternal grandfather lives with us.

Years ago, my father-in-law’s mother died and we weren’t going to leave grandfather alone.

My mother-in-law is a nervous person, I have never once seen her have a normal conversation with grandfather, as soon as my father-in-law comes home she shuts her mouth, but when he is not home she talks to poor grandpa like he is hysterical, which makes me feel guilty.

Yesterday we were alone at home, me, my mother-in-law and grandpa, we wanted to eat, grandpa accidentally dropped something on the floor, my mother-in-law yelled so much I was disgusted, she said we should take you to the nursing home, I can’t take it anymore.

Poor grandpa didn’t say anything. I couldn’t stand it, I said, why don’t you say the same thing when your husband is home, or are you afraid? Aren’t you ashamed to talk to grandfather like that, now you’ve brought this poor man to tears.
